First Day of School!

8/24/2014

Hi! I'm your new teacher, Mrs. Garnet. You don't know me very well yet, and I don't know much about you either. Let's fix that! Your first homework assignment is to contact me through this website, and leave me a message with some specific information below.
( Hint: Click the Contact Mrs. Garnet button on the homepage to contact me
.)
You must answer all three questions to receive full credit for this assignment:
  1. Identify yourself so I know who to give credit to for the homework. If you prefer to be called by a nickname, tell me both so I can match the nickname up with the name on the roll sheet. Be sure to include last name.
  2. Tell me something unique or interesting about yourself, so I can start to learn who each of you are, and know something about each of you. This can be a fascinating fact, a cool story (bro), or some other creative way to share WHO you are, so you stand out.
  3. Using the symbols +, -, *, /, to fill the blanks (you can also add parentheses), what is the largest number you can come up with for: 1__2__3__4__5__6__7__8__9?
You must use each symbol at least once, and don't forget about order of operations! Show me the sequence with the blanks filled and tell me what your answer is.
(This question will not be graded for correctness, I'm just curious to see what you come up with)

Below is the syllabus we went over in class. I will have paper copies for you tomorrow. The signed acknowledgement form (page 3) is due on Friday, August 29.
